Roadways are the most reliable means of transport, and trucks are India’s primary type of transport vehicle. The transport vehicle market has seen a significant increase in the number of trucks sold every year. Some estimates show that in 2021, the demand for cargo trucks, hyva, and heavy vehicles grew from 50% to 80% in the Indian market, thanks to the growth in the logistics sector and goods production. Due to the increase in these services, the demand for transport and commercial vehicles has also increased. The number of transport vehicle manufacturers has also risen compared to the previous years. Thus, many truck and transport vehicle brands compete against each other to provide cheap pricing and good products to the customer along with modern technology and convenience. As a result of the increase in demand, the manufacturers are also offering different varieties of trucks for goods transport companies and logistic services.
Types of Trucks
The variety of trucks depends on two factors – its load-carrying capacity or haulage and its usage. In the Indian market, there are national as well as international manufacturers who offer different trucks for different uses. The pricing for these trucks usually depends on technology and fuel economy efficiency. Pricing and fuel economy are the leading factors based on which the customers choose their vehicles. Keeping these factors in mind, truck companies based in India are the ones that offer lower prices and many after-sale service options to make the purchase and service cheaper.
There are various truck types such as transit mixers, tractor-trailers, cargo trucks, car transporters, delivery vans, tankers, hyva, etc. Each of these trucks has distinctive features that allow them to perform specific tasks. Transit mixers used in construction transport cement and gravel mixture from one place to another; tankers carry liquids like petroleum, water, milk, and sometimes chemicals as well. Their categorization is by Gross Weight Vehicles (GVW), which is the weight of the transport vehicle. A higher Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) means the transport vehicle can carry a heavier payload. By far, the carrying capacity of the Volvo trucks is the highest, with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) going up to 200T or 200-Tonnes.
Here is a list of national and international companies available in India that manufactures trucks and different transport vehicles:

Commercial and transport vehicle requirements increase as the demand for logistical services increases. This haulage has compelled manufacturers to improve their vehicles to international standards. The manufacturers are fitting trucks with new technology, which makes them costlier. Although we have a wide variety of companies to choose from, the demand for high-end trucks is increasing along with pricing, and owning a truck is a costly investment today.
As a solution to this price rise, many companies offer options for renting and booking cargo trucks and transport vehicles such as LCV vehicles and medium commercial vehicles (MCV), trailers, and other commercial transport vehicles. Booking or renting transport vehicles helps reduce costs and workload borne by an individual company.
